About the assembly of the offered bodies on the
basis of a Willys, Suzuki LJ80 or SJ, Daihatsu Wildcat, Mahindra CJ340
The offered bodies correspond mainly to the
original Willys MB body as every off road enthusiast will know. The CJ3A is in
fact the civil version of the original one.
Details:
The body is identical (the axe and spade are however
missing), the windshield frame is slightly higher and larger and is not split.
The grill has only 7 instead of 9 bars for mounting bigger headlights. The
tailgate is more similar to the CJ 5 layout.
For the rest, the stainless steel bodies are
principally identical to the original bodies. As the bodies are handmade
(however on durable moulds) small deviations should be taken into account. Some
differences can be found in the floor room and in the structure of the
underside of the body. The tank inlet usually found in CJ 3’s on the driver
side is also missing as usually the tank in non-original restorations is anyway
moved in saver places than under the driver seat (!). The body also has no
precuts or holes foreseen.
That the bodies have no holes is certainly an
advantage as you will be free in important questions on where and how high you
want to mount your steering column, your seats and all the other hardware. It
is necessary however that a colleague or a good friend can weld stainless
steel.
In all, you can count on the same work as you
would mound a fiberglass body, only that you will have at the end a real
stainless on your Jeep which looks great and doesn’t crack in the sun!
With the stainless steel body you will also
economize the painting! Firstly it is unnecessary to paint stainless steel, on
the other hand it is quit difficult as stainless offers very low adhesive to
paint.
All bodies offered do not have a guarantee to
fit the needs of your local legislation and vehicle inspection body (as TÜV in
Germany).
However with every body set a copy of a
registration of a Suzuki SJ is handed over. Other buyers have also received
registration for other types of vehicles.
