What is the scientific value of such a computation? It is practically zero!
- it is not falsifiable because nobody can measure the standard heat of formation (at 0K or any other temperature) for a pure compound C140H282. It is not known how to prepare such a molecule in a sizable quantity purified from its very similar polyethylene relatives!
- it is not falsifiable because nobody has a method to compute such a large molecule accurately enough to compare it with the Kimball result.
- if such hydrocarbons were synthesized as a mixture, say from C130H262 to C150H302, we would at finite temperature not only have a molecular mass distribution but also a distribution of staggered, eclipsed, gauche a.s.o. regions in every molecule, conformers changing shape in nanoseconds. It is not possible to take all this into account without marrying Kimball's model with statistical mechanics (to be done as another exercise!).
But look at this context.
