The already excellent antenna could be further enhanced:

Each decibel counts!
With the aid of precise field strenght measurements and some
small modifications, the new HB9ABX antenna could
be further improved by obtaining additional signal strength
and by increasing the operating bandwidth.

The following data was reached:

20 m antenna:
Additional 0.4 dB fieldstrength
and the bandwidth (SWR 1:2) was increased from 590 kHz to
over 900 kHz .

40 m antenna:
Additional 1.7 dB fieldstrength
and the bandwidth (SWR 1:2) was increased from 62 kHz to
140 kHz .
