The history of Tetris is described elsewhere, most notably by one of the original authors in the following web page: http://vadim.www.media.mit.edu/tetris.htm

Technical notes :

This version of Tetris will only work with JDK1.1 compatible browsers. At the moment, these are Sun Hotjava 1.0 or above, Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or above & Netscape Navigator 4.04 with Java patch (or higher version). You may want to download the latest version of Java Virtual Machine with the plugin for your browser at http://java.sun.com.

This program is the result of many hours of hard work. The persons involved as of this release are:

Per Cederberg Java implementation of this game.
Jeff Thomas Beta-testing of version 1.2

This game wouldn't have been possible without the original idea (and implementation) by Alexey Pajitnov, Dmitry Pavlovsky, and Vadim Gerasimov in 1985-86.
