Dear Maryalice and Family

We know not how it is
To lose a spouse or father
We can only imagine
But not understand
What loss you must bear

We did not know Gerald the way you did
For this three years were much too short
Yet they were plenty to get to love him

In three years of learning English
We also learned a little about you –
And more: we learned how much love he held
For his wife and children

As Gerald’s former students
We wish to extend our utmost sympathy
To the beloved family he left behind
