Right after high school I went to Israel for a 4-month program (February until July 2000) in the kibbutz Ramat Rachel in Jerusalem. It was an Ulpan (Hebrew class and working in the kibbutz) and a special history program about Israel and Jerusalem with a lot of trips and an
archaeological dig in the end. It was so mch fun, the best time I've ever had...
From the Prject Oren Kibbutz Programs Website:
Project Oren Kibbutz Programs offers an experience unlike any other in Israel. Students live, work 3 days a week in one of the kibbutz branches, and study Hebrew 3 days a week on kibbutz for either a summer or a semester. By working with kibbutzniks and studying Hebrew with fellow ulpanists, students have the
opportunity to see Israel from the inside while creating their own community. Students also participate in rich program of stimulating lectures and trips throughout the program that discuss various Jewish issues, such as Zionism, Israel-Diaspora relations, history, the peace process, and more. Lastly, Project Oren also offers three educational tracks for the semester programs from which the
participants choose one particular topic to study: Creative Arts; Israel through Drama; or Jerusalem Studies and Archaeology. These topics are studied twice a week through lectures, trips and workshops.
