Cable Management in Denmark (status by September 2004)

The official Cable Management Plan for Denmark is issued by TDC, the loop provider:
Technical Specification TS 900 305, (2004). The document is in Danish and is not published on the Internet.
Other operators may challenge the CMP in which case the Danish Regulator can intervene.

At present the following DSL technologies are allowed in the local loop:

No pair selection or reach restrictions apply.

HDB3 systems still exist in the local loops, but the systems will gradually be phased out.

Unbundling of sub-loops is restricted to “teknikhuse”. A “teknikhus” is a large cabinet where DSLAM s and in some cases POTS/ISDN exchange equipment is installed. The cables from regular exchanges via the “teknikhuse” are partly separated in order to reduce crosstalk, and it is intended to separate signals completely. This will be implemented gradually.

Sub-loop unbundling from street cabinets is not allowed due to crosstalk problems (VDSL not considered at the moment).

The interest in VDSL is low in Denmark. Consequently no decision has yet been made concerning band plans and other deployment rules for VDSL.
