iMass (short for isotopeMass) includes a molecular mass calculator, a periodic table of the elements, an isotope distribution graph and a calculator that computes elemental compositions matching a given mass. iMass understands complex chemical formulas as well as user defined abbreviations for commonly used formulas.

Download and Installation

Download iMass1.0.dmg.tgz

Unzip the the file iMass1.0.dmg.tgz

Double click iMass1.0.dmg to mount the disk image on your desktop.

Note: If you have used an older version of iMass, you must remove the old preferences file (/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.ivory.iMass.plist) before starting up iMass v1.0 for the first time.

Put the application iMass into a folder of your choice. When iMass is launched for the first time, it installs a new folder inside your library folder (~/Library/iMass). This folder contains two files - "Elements.plist"  and "Shortcuts". On a system used by multiple users, you can move this folder from ~/Library to /Library so that all users work with the same data set.

iMass 1.1 is now available for download

New features include overlaying of isotope distribution graphs and exporting of graph data as tab delimited text. I'm currently updating the documentaion - but that might take a while.
