Control and Supervision of Hybrid Systems

Hybrid systems consist of combinations of continuous dynamics and discrete logic components. For this type of systems there are only few systematic approaches to tackle practical problems in system design, operation and supervision.

A new modeling framework for hybrid systems has been recently developed at our laboratory, the mixed logic dynamical (MLD) framework. A broad class of hybrid systems can be modeled in the MLD framework. Moreover, several practical problems can be formulated and solved for systems described in MLD form, ranging from controller synthesis and state estimation to verification and fault detection.

In this project the numerical aspects of the mathematical problems involved are analyzed. Special emphasis is placed on the fault detection problem of hybrid systems modeled in MLD form.
