Anne-Marie Rojahn TCRG |
Anne-Marie is a registered teacher with the Irish Dancing Commission (An Coimisiún) and was trained by Kathleen and Michael Maguire, both grade examiners, adjudicators and teachers at the renowned Maguire O'Shea Academy of Irish Dance in Essex, London.
At age five she commencend her dancing career with Norwegian Folk Dance. In addition she was trained in gymnastics by her dad. For years she also enjoyed tower diving, a sport in which she could make use of the acrobatic movements from gymnastics.
Her fascination for tap dancing resulted in her being taught by Sharron Roberts (Royal Academy of Dance, London) for many many years. After moving to Switzerland in 1994, she joined "beat-the-tap" in Basel, where she received intense tuition from Andreas Jakopec, Swiss Tap Dancing Champion and 8th place medalist at the World Championships in 1998.
In the spring of 2000 she founded her own Irish Dancing School. Besides teaching she kept dancing in shows both nationally and internationally, and organised a vast number of workshops.
Anne-Marie enjoys seeing her dancers perform on stage and organizing the "Eire Born Irish Dance Show" project at EXPO.02 became her yet greatest challenge. For a full week, the one hour dance- and music show was performed 12 times on the Grande Scène at the Expo Arteplage in Neuchâtel, CH.
A TV commercial for SF DRS (Swiss TV) enabled her students to get involved in television work.
The very challenging tuition at the Maguire O'Shea Academy in London made her interest in teaching dance grow so enourmesly, that she decided to sit her teachers exam.
After extensive training at the Academy in London she passed her TCRG with flying colours in December 2004. She has now fully dedicated herself to teaching in Switzerland. Anne-Marie made history with the Irish Dancing Commission, Dublin (IRL) by being the first ever mainland European and Swiss to have passed the teachers exam.
" The honour of being asked to sit my TCRG by both Michael & Kathleen was an opportunity not to be missed. Once you decide to go for it you see it through and put your heart and soul to it. My passion for Irish dancing, my joy teaching and my dancers successes at competitions make me realize, that there is no such thing as being rewarded for the hard work."
