Pokhara and its villages
Pokhara is the second biggest city in Nepal. It is smaller more peaceful and greener than the capital Kathmandu. The prime source of Pokhara's natural beauty comes from the Annapurna mountain range, which provides the city with a stunnung backdrop. Pokhara has become quite an urban place, providing tourists and locals with many of the same goods available in Western countries. However, a short drive from the main towns reveal Nepali villages in their wonderful authentic beauty.Customs play a big role in the everyday life of village inhabitants. They wear traditional dress and cook traditional food. Despite exposure to the tourism sector, their way of life has not changed. It is simple and close to nature.Daily needs like toilet paper, soap and biscuits, etc. are available in many village shops and provisions are more videly available in the main towns of Lakeside and Mahendrapul, which can be reached from many villages by bus, taxi or bicycle. Internet in these places is abundant.
