FAMILY EVENTS YEAR 2001  (V_= Vanessa, P = Peter )

The year started with a little bit of aggravation as V decided all by herself to go to London for 2 days with a group of piano
students together with their teacher to attend the Verdi Centinary Concert saying she’ll finance it all by herself if Papi doesn’t.
Was just a consolation to know that she did have a good time with the group touring London city as well.

Sometime February V was having some serious skin problems so took her finally to
another skin Specialist hoping to get some better results to which it did I guess.

April 13 Good Friday, Yvonne Clarke from Whitehorse Canada together with her boyfriend Thomas Vogel from Germany dropped by on us for 2 days before proceeding to Riccione,  Italy for a week of vacation. We already planned to go to Italy at this point of time too so 2 days later we joined them. We stayed 3 days in Riccione & had some good times playing beachvolleyball or simply jogging along the Adriatic coast. In betweens we visited the Republic of San Marino, a small beautiful, duty free country within Italy & not far from Riccione. They have plenty of cheap leather products, the Murano glasses are adorable too. We also toured Rimini City. After Riccione we proceeded to Venice & stayed there for 2 days. A very old,  romantic city. Beautiful Masks of different sizes & shapes are nice to look at all over the window shops. We weren’t quiet lucky with the weather though, it was either cloudy or raining but we enjoyed it all the same, a very impressive city.

May, we visited Vivian L. Teinze & her family in Germany. Her family decided to stay in Germany, the homeland of her
husband for good since last March. Nice to know a cousin lives now nearby, an hour & 10 minutes drive from our place.

June 23, this is a special day for 4 young Talents from Birmensdorf, a day we were proud as parents. V had an outstanding performance at her piano concert accompanied by Sinfonietta Helvetica Orchestra  held at the Protestant Church in
our town. She is the youngest solist age 11, the rest were ages 13, 15 & 17. Peter's mom, Neny & family, Anna Buison, Anabelle & Babsi Beer came to watch her play. This is also the day our internet friends Bert & Doris Derhaag  from
Sittard Holland with their son Joey came to give us a visit, they arrived before noon & stayed till after V's concert. The following day we toured Bert & his family in Zurich City & to Einsiedeln known for pilgrimage because of the
Black Madonna & its beautiful church.

V’s 5 weeks summer vacation was all spent in North America. July 14 V & I arrived in Vancouver to stay with Cora’s family
in Surrey where Mama is having at the same time her vacation for 3 months. As Mama likes to travel around, we both took off
to Las Vegas, Mama for 4 days & I for a week & stayed with the family of Alma Fernandez Dewey, a childhood friend from
Barili. We had a great time with the Dewey family touring us to Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon National Park South Rim in
Arizona ( that 5 hours drive from Vegas makes you  feel really sleepy because of the monotonously straight road) & of course
the city of Las Vegas itself. One thing I noticed, am not as impressed in the Casinos anymore compared to my 1st visit of
5 years ago. But still I like Caesar’s Palace & among the new ones we visited, I like Venice Casino the most.

Back to Vancouver, we met our internet friends Dan & Margie Milton together with their kids Kurt & Nicole & dog
Cracker living in Coquitlam 20 minutes away from Cora’s. Lucky enough Dan had his vacation too so together with his
family we had such good times together. They toured us to Steveston Wharf, Kitsilano Beach & a dinner treat in
Cloud 9 Revolving Restaurant located at the heart of Vancouver City, was really beautiful out there. We did have a
lot of fun together camping at Beachwood Campsite in Birchbay Wa., a day of swimming & bowling, another day
of Lazer Tag & dinner at their place too.  Pictures from Peter, Anne & Vanessa in Canada

We surely had some good times too with Cora, Pol, Philip & Pam. We got around together in Vancouver City, watched a movie at the Imax Theatre, ooh what a big big screen. We don’t have such a thing in our place, makes you a bit dizzy though.
We went to the Malls, spent a day in Seattle going up the Space Needle Tower. We also visited & had dinner at cousin
Farida  & husband Jack Paez in Custer Washington. Spent a day in Belcarra Park crabbing w/ Pol’s motorboat &
picnicking. Beautiful! We got 4 crabs only, although we catched many but most were less than the size to keep so we
have to put them back in the water, 4 is not much than his usual catch as I understand.

V enjoyed much the company of cousin Pam & the doggies Keyla, Silky & Pebbles.
Philip was more of a taxidriver bringing & picking us up at the airport 5x.

August 2 V & I flew to Whitehorse, Yukon upper north of Canada to meet Peter for a 2 weeks vacation. We stayed
with a friend George Clarke & his kids Rachel, Sabrina & Sean. We had a nice time camping & fishing in Haines Alaska
touring the Yukon Territories to Atlin & Haines Junction. P & I also spent a day in Skagway, Alaska. Left V behind with
the Clarkes as she was still sleeping when we left sometime in the morning.  P flew directly to Zurich while V & I flew
back to Vancouver & spent a few more days with Cora before flying back to Zurich. What a wonderful vacation!

October. V spent during her autumn vacation a week at a Horseranch for riding
lessons together with her bestfriend Sarah for the 2nd time.
On the 11th of the month, cousin Ingrid arrived from PI to visit her friend & stayed 3 months.

We had a Lozada get together at my place on the 14th to welcome her.

November, Peter bought a new Pentium 4 computer. Good for V, now she can have his old Pentium2 computer.
So our Christmas wish was a computer set up at V’s room. Thus this month of jingle bells P bought a new printer &
a flat computer monitor. He kept all the new stuffs though & V got his old set up which I find as good as the new ones.
Well well important is we don’t get blamed anymore if his computer gets busted. Just before Christmas we welcome
new members of the family, V's Lady Lovebird nested, had 6 eggs. Five came out of their shell, one died though so she
had 4 peeping baby birds crying all night long.     -

Like last year, we spent X’mas & New Year with V's friends
Chantal & Patrick Wettstein, Jasmin, Anna Buison & Markus Heine quietly at home.
