An eminent maker. L. Berthoud said, his work was particularly fine in all essentials, without unnecessary show.
Made many watches with lever escapements, the first in 1774.
Was the first to apply draw to the lockings. Submitted four timekeepers to the Board of Longitude for trial between 1792 and 1796, but without success.
