A very able maker. In charge of the first school of horology at Geneva in 1788.
Worked at the improvement of the lever escapennent. Gave a model escapement in 1786 to the Soc. des Arts of Geneva, which may be the first with divided impulse faces.
Invented in 1776 m independent sweep secs. mechanism, with auxiliary train and mainspring. It was largely used till late 19c.
