This song was written as a contribution to a Swiss environmental
campaign against littering. “Let’s Keep Our Planet
Clean”. The recording that you hear
here was done quickly and should be considered a draft recording.
This is my first recorded pop single after having released two very well
received classical guitar CD's. I have a lot of other songs in the works.
On
this record I play the classical guitar, steel-string guitar, djembe
(drum), claps, and sings on this track.. A friend who is an amateur
played the egg-shakers. For professional release the song will be re-recorded.
Two
of my favorite comments among over 100 comments received for "Let's
Keep Our Planet Clean" (http://mx3.ch/artist/rezaganjavi):
ich finde dein Song für die heutiger Zeit wichtig und sympathisch, und kann sein, dass die Botschaft würde bei den Jungs greifen, aber dann braucht es einen Text auf Schwyzerdütsch, und die ZVV sollte es jede Stunde in allen Trams für eine Woche spielen.
Dass kann denen sogar sehr viel bei Reinigung- und Vandalismus- Kosten sparen. [PK]
-----------------
I
like the song a lot. I also like that it's easy to cut: the first
roughly 30 seconds, or the first roughly 60 seconds, would each work
very well as a radio spot, or a TV spot with animation. The early part
of the song has, in my view, the most general/repeatable lyrics: good.
As the song goes on, however, it stays interesting because the lyrics
DON'T repeat much, so I wanted to pay attention not only to the message
but also to the writing and the rhyming. The melody is catchy, so you
could have all of Europe, and then the rest of the world, singing this
thing and driving each other crazy. Do you have versions in other
languages? … Brilliant…. it reaches out and demands close listening:
just what you want… (JE]
When you ride the bus When you ride the train And, you got, something to throw away
When you’re in the park Or you take a walk And you-got-some rubbish-to, get-rid-of
Put your litter in a trash bin And help keep the plant clean Save your litter for the trash bin Let’s keep our plant clean
We can save the world From getting trashed If we just, put our litter, in a bag We should never count On somebody else To pick up the litter we make, in our place
Save your litter for a dust bin And help keep the plant clean Put your litter in a trash bin Let’s keep our plant clean
If you smoke cancer sticks, unfortunately Make sure you get rid of the butt properly Or else, toxic-chemicals, leak into the air leak into the water systems everywhere
Floor is not an ashtray Keep the stations clean Put your litter in a waste bin Let’s keep our plant clean
This beautiful planet Is such a special place If we take care and love her A smile comes to her face Then she’ll live long and happy And bless us, with her grace.
We can change the world By the way we act This is not a fantasy My friend it’s a fact
Together we can help To make our little earth A brighter place And a cleaner space
Pick up your litter and put it in a bin (or pick up the plastic, floating on the beach) Let’s make the world glitter As clean as it can be
Put your litter in a trash bin And help keep the plant clean Save, energy, recycle, Let’s keep our plant clean
Additional Remarks
I admire Switzerland,
one of the cleanest countries in the world, for taking this initiative to
address the littering problem. I’ve seen Swiss youngsters litter because they
say the place is too clean and they want to give a job to others to clean up
after them. In general, I am sure this IGSU campaign has raised the awareness
and will help make our world cleaner.
The message about ‘cancer sticks’ is very real because every
day I witness in train and bus stations the disgusting smell of cigarette butts
that are disposed in masses on the ground. We all need to respect the cleanness
of the inner and outer environment.
