Part 2 <date coded>

Giulio Tampalini's new CD of selected Gilardino's works for guitar is the
most exciting, rich, beautiful CD of guitar music I've heard in a long time.
Those who are familiar with Gilardino's music know that this man is at the
forefront of best composers of our époque. Gilardino's music introduces a
new dimension of possibilities for the instrument while creating what can
genuinely be called "good music".

Tampalini's performances on a 1976 Luis Arban are impeccable, demonstrating
solid technical command, deep understanding of the music, rich
interpretation, and warm, transparent tone. The sound engineering  is soso
(I am not a fan of what sounds to be studio sound). The booklet was
obviously done by graphic artists! Every graphic artist I know likes to
(wrongly) put design in front of other very important aspects of delivery of
a good CD booklet.

This is a priceless album and everyone interested in fine music should own
it !! I guess it can be ordered by emailing "info at giuliotampalini dot it".

Congratulations Giulio and Angelo. What a fantastic contribution to the
world of guitar and music in general.

Part 1 <date coded>

This is an inadequate attempt to communicate something tremendous I
witnessed today.
Today I had the pleasure and honor of hearing Angelo Gilardino's brand new
work - Concerto per fisarmonica, chitarra e archi (for accordion, guitar and
strings).
It is difficult to find the words to convey it. It was like eating an
unknownly delicious fruit from another universe for the first time - or
walking on the lands of another marvelous galaxy - or waking up to the
gigantic sunrise in deep JoshwaTree desert. Perhaps mind-expansion would be
a better term. Sense-of-self certainly did not exist as all senses had
vanished in the vast beauty, taste, color, and form of this phenomenon
called "music". It felt like the cure to all human's ills - to put the young
people in a stadium and instead of the trash they usually listen to blast
this gem - they're bound to like it, rather get transformed, transmuted by
it as it is supremely beyond like & dislike. They're bound to get high by
it - though it is not a drug that gives pleasure and painful side-effects.
It gave one a sense of incredible expansion - taking you out of your being
into the realm of the unknown which was filled with surprises, and immensity
of the present movement of the notes and color of sound - a sense of
otherness which words can not go near.

The computer which played the score had a very beautiful sound - I can not
imagine how incredible this will sound with live 8, 1st violins, 8, 2nd
violins, 6 violas, 3 cellos, and 2 doublebasses.

Regards
Reza
