Effective Project Management: How to Grab The Bull By The Horn
COPYRIGHT REZA GANJAVI

Before you can grab the bull by the horn you have to know how big the bull is.

Beware of that last 10%

Solid analysis is very important: Users don’t know what they want until they get what they asked for

Take ownership of problems

Don’t pass the buck

Stick to the essential – there is always unimportant distractions that can take up time & energy

See the goal and a clear path to the goal. Only then you can take the straight line and avoid detours and eternal mazes.

People make it happen; care for your resources; don’t put too much pressure but put enough pressure.

Manage by objectives

Build quality into every step

Have a clear milestone plan to measure progress against.

Assign 100% to complete tasks. Visually having lots of 100%’s motivates the staff.

Absolutely avoid these phrases : "I can't do"; "It's not easy"; "It's difficult"

It is critical that you view others (and yourself) without an image. This is the only way to have a responsible relationship!

It's ok to leave some mess behind when buzzing forward as result of clear perception / insight, as long as you go back and clean it up -- only then you can take another leap forward!

You must manage your manager effectively.

Do not make commitments you can not keep.

All  communications should be 1) rooted in affection 2) pursuasive towards what you're trying to accomplish

Feel sense of urgency

Manage your manager

Always speak the truth.

Always act truthfully.

Pm role – to get people to do what they’re supposed to!! Because some people don't like their job or for other reasons don't do things unless they have to...
