Whole Food Markets is the largest "natural" food market in the US. It managed to gobble up smaller competitors

Wholefood boldly boasts about humane treatment of the animals it kills. How do you kill an animal with compassion: "Come here sweeties, I want to cut your head off. Come on darling, I like you so much I want  to fry your legs".

This is what Wholefoods says on their website:

"Whole Foods Market is proud of our role as a leader in the natural meat industry. By working with our knowledgeable and passionate meat and poultry providers as well as with forward thinking humane animal treatment experts, we have been able to champion innovative production systems that not only improve the quality and the safety of the meat we sell, but also support humane living conditions of the animals."

Humane !!??

This is the biggest piece of hypocritical thought I ever read.
And if you go to their buffets they sometimes have meat and vegetable dishes side-by-side and the the dumbasses don't get it that when people share the same spoon dishing out meat and veg dishes, for a non-meat-eater, that veg dish becomes useless when it's had meaty serving spoons inside.

And it is disgusting to walk in sections of Whole Foods as I can smell the smell of dead animals in their large meat section, both raw and cooked.

I still go there out of necessity sometimes but would much rather buy natural food at smaller shops which are quickly getting eliminated by bigger competitors:

In an unusual move, the Federal Trade Commission is trying to disrupt the combination of the nation's largest natural-foods grocers after the deal has already been completed.

The FTC is asking a Washington appellate court to overturn a federal-district-court ruling in August that allowed Whole Foods Market Inc. to acquire rival Wild Oats Markets Inc. for $565 million. The agency, which opposes the combination on antitrust grounds, is asking for an expedited review. Its appeal is considered a long shot.
