POWERPLAY

Music: Simon Tanner

Lyrics: Markus Reichenbach
Date: January 1995

Verse 1:
In the beginning - hey I wonder who wrote this line.
The year was 56, I was just a twinkle in my daddy's eye.
Elvis was a superstar with a thing they called rock and roll
everybody was dancing the jive and times were oh so cool...
In this time I was born, I was born a child of rock'n roll
was my label from now on, where ever I was gonna go.

Verse 2:
I can still remember my very first day at school
I told the teacher I was a rock'n roller,
and he called me a bloody fool
he said: boy you better learn
or I gonna teach you with my stick
to prove it he went right to work
and beat the stuffing out of my back.
On the last day of his life, I told him that I was gonna rock
He screamed something about my mother, and then he blew his top.

Refrain:
I'm a rock'n'roll man in a rock'n roll band,
it doesn't matter where I go
I cant stop rocking, I cant stop rolling
I keep going until you blow.
Powerplay, is gonna blow your brain, out thru your nose.

Verse 3:
When I left school I was gonna work, be respected in society
Sent in my CV, this guy calls me to work for his company.
I sat in his office and he talked a lot about net profitability
and asked me what I wanted to work and what I wanted to be.
So I told him the story of my life, rock'n'roll is what I do
and his chin dropped all the way to the floor and he asked me:
Who the hell are you?

Refrain:
I'm a rock'n'roll man...

Verse 4:
Maybe I'm crazy, maybe I'm mad, some people claim I'm wild.
But really it ain't not so bad, I'm just a rock'n roll child,
I found these guys here, friends of mine, just as crazy as me.
We do the one thing we always wanted to do,
we're exactly what we wanna be.
We are rocking, we are rolling, we're having a hell of a time
and where we're gonna play tomorrow we don't really mind.

Refrain:
We're rock'n'roll men in a rock'n'roll band...
