Which version shall I download?
===========================

Make no mistake about it, this track will require more resources to adequately run than any other track that has been produced to date (15 January 2001). In the beginning we kept a close eye on frame rate and tried to take the utmost care in making sure we would have maximum frames per second everywhere on the track. But due to the amount of objects it required to satisfactorily represent Bremgarten how it was in 1954, we knew frame rate would be an issue. So in light of this, we decided to make several versions for one to choose from for download.
So here is some insight that might help you determine which version will be the right one for you.

The light version is primarily for users with slow systems or those who wish to have the highest frame rate possible while racing online. There are very few objects placed throughout the track but it does not begin to look sparse or barren either.

The medium version is best suited to those who have a Voodoo2 or Voodoo3 video card. It is a good compromise between frames per second and graphical content even though there are still quite a few objects that are not included. It should also be said that there may be screenfreezing problems for Voodoo3 users who download any higher version than this one due the limitations of the texture memory on Voodoo3 cards.

For those of you who have a relatively fast system, such as a 650 MHz, and a current generation video card like the GeForce2 or V5; you should probably be able to run the high version without difficulty. This version has nearly every object placed on the track.

The elite version is the top of the line. It has every object and every detail we have spent our time working on for the last six months. This version is recommended only for those of you with a current generation video card and a very fast system like an 800 Mhz or higher. And due to the way in which we have decided to recreate the Bremgarten forest, this version has more than 1300 objects placed around the track and looks absolutely stunning as a result.

So there you have it, a brief users guide to which version is probably best suited to your machine. You should also keep in mind though that resolution as well as how many cars are on the screen make a huge difference in which version will produce acceptable frame rates for you. If you are one of those people that don't bother to race online and spend most of your time driving the circuits by him or herself, you will probably be able to step up one or two versions from what is recommended for your system. But on the other side, if you routinely participate in full grid races you may want to download a lower version than the recommended to ensure maximum frame rate at the drop of the green flag.

Of course we would like it if everyone was to at least download the elite version, if for nothing else, just to see what the total accumulation of our time spent has yielded. But above all else, we hope that everyone enjoys whichever version they choose to download and appreciates what it requires to take on such an endeavor as track building.
