There are two projects under consideration.

1st Proposal

Co-Operaid is a charity organisation based in Zürich with ZEWO seal of approval. It is planning to build a Vocational Training Center at Trincomalee. The partner organisation of Co-Operaid in Sri Lanka for this project is Sarvodaya, a well established and respected charity organisation. Co-Operaid has received Fr. 1 million from Glückskette for this Project which is estimated to cost Fr. 1.5 million. They plan to gap the rest of the funds with a grant from the City of Zürich and private donations. This proposal from Co-Operaid requests the SSLA to support its Vocational Training Center project at Trincomalee. The project is estimated to be completed in December 2008.

Objectives and expected results of the project are: 1. To provide vocational training in various trades 2. To serve as a training center for language learning to open channels for peace and cooperation and 3. To bolster Tsunami recovery  

Beneficiaties of the project will be about 400 youth per year both Tsunami victims and Internally Displaced Persons. 

2nd Proposal

Help Sri Lanka is an "Einfache Gesellschaft" that sprung up spontaneously soon after the Tsunami catastrophe to help Tsunami victims in Sri Lanka. It collected Fr. 7900.- (already donated) and together with other small groups have a total of approximately Fr. 10,000.-. This money will be used to build a Community Center + Kindergarten in a new housing scheme called Manujayapura at Dodagama in Hikkaduwa. The housing scheme has 26 houses all of which are now occupied by Tsunami victims -(see Status Report 23rd May 2006 at  http://homepage.hispeed.ch/HelpLanka/Reports.htm . 

This proposal put forward by Help Sri Lanka requests the SSLA to join them to construct the building. Work of the build has already started. The estimated cost of this sub-project is Rs. 2 million.
