ecoglobe [eco-globe - a blue planet with green continents .. home] Development graph "You're here"

Development graph
The graph shows past and future development over a time of 200 years. That is 8 generations of each 25 years. The future development is based on a "business as usual" scenario. "Business as usual" means: no fundamental reversals in the existing growth patterns: growth of population, pollution, production and depletion.
The graph is based on the resource scenario calculations by Meadows, Meadows and Randers (1992) and World Oil resources by Duncan and Younquist (1998).

graph 'You're here'; 30K
Development, adapted by Jay Hanson [email] , from Meadows et al., (1992) - Beyond the Limits.
The size of of planet, however, remains the same. The total amount of natural resources and space does not grow. The result could be what Jay Hanson has pictured in his animated graph dieoff.htm
