Two weeks in Umbria

  16.7.01
It's time to move to another location, Sangemini.

We stop on the road looking for good wine, olive oil, black truffle.

As for olive oil, Umbria is definitively one of the most important regions in Italy, with oils of absolutely perfect quality.

Especially we liked the Olio Extravergine di Oliva da Agricultura Biologica produced by Moretti Omero:  http://www.bcsnet.it/moretti/

and the Olio Extravergine di Oliva Fruttato produced by Gaudenzi: http://www.oliodopgaudenzi.it/

As for wine, the region has an history dating back 3000 years; this year 6 wines received the highest note in a national guide to wines ("3 bicchieri Gambero Rosso").
A quick review of regional wines: www.livingitaly.com/wines.htm

We expecially appreciate and buy the wines of Italo Di Filippo, Cannara (PG) (www.bcsnet.it/difilippo), who sells two very good red wines (one of the few to produce organic wines).
