Up to now (end 1999), only 2 kinds of static sparkgaps are in use
in my Tesla coils: a small RQ-gap and a somehow less commonly seen, single,
air blown gap from a big professionally manufactured (by Haefely) Tesla coil
in a HV-lab of Swiss porcelain-insulator manufacturing company Langenthal/Ceram,
which has been closed by now. This company has given us, Swiss coilers Martin
Damev, Rene Affolter and Kurt Schraner, the remains of the HV-lab in a generous
way. Unfortunately the TC itself was already discarded, when we got access
to the parts. Attention: The pic's of this gap could imply a so called "exploded view" of the gap parts. This is not the case: the ceramic tube should be at the opposite side of the metallic parts, in order this to be true. |
