After eighteen months Chantal did her first steps on her own. This did take a long time.. And let's hope that everything doesn't take so long (typical female).
Chantal worked very hardly during the latest months. First she was trying to walk with her hands up, hoping that somebody would give her a hand in order to help her. But nobody wanted to give her a hand, so she had to do it on her own. Therefore Chantal was looking around for objects, that could help her walking. She was very happy, when she found a small chair, which she was pushing around the place standing behind it. She practice with this chair for a long time. The fact that she didn't try directly to walk on her own and maybe risk to fall on her nose a couple of times, is because of her character: she is very careful in everything but she tries to do everything in the right way. So after a while practising with the chair, she started to walk with the hands up. Also this action she practice during the whole day for days. And then finally she found out, that she could also walk, holding on her trousers.
We couldn't help much Chantal in this development because she only walked when she felt like to. Once we brought her to Oma and Opa to show how she could walk but instead she sat the whole time, and as soon as we tried to make her stand up she started to cry. At the beginning she mostly practice in the evenings while she was playing with Lorenzo. Then she was more concentrated in playing than in walking.
Now Chantal doesn't need any more help: no more chairs, no more hands. She even tries to run and she is doing this quite good. Poor cats: now they can't have peace inside the house because Chantal always tries to catch and touch them. She loves cats so much. We expect that soon she will run around the place with Lorenzo.
