Garden changes in March 2000:
|

|
The storm Lothar has broken a tree on the upper loan of our garden.
We also wanted to have more light for the apple and pear trees which we are growing there, so we decided to cut two further trees in that part of the garden.
The two pictures on the left show some of the machines we were using...
The work is not completed yet since there wasn't any time to place the resulting wood in its place.
We plan that for the end of march the place will be in order.
The apple and pear trees were also damaged but we hope that they will recover this summer. If not we will have to buy new ones this fall.
We also have bought a Nischi tree which we planted were the front of the tractor is. A Nischi is a cross between an apple and a pear. There origins are from Japan but they grow well in Switzerland.
The path leading to the meditation point has been damaged by the tractors. We wanted to redo it anyway because it needs a delimitation otherwise the material used for it will go into the rest of the garden.

This is how the play ground looks after we extracted the trees damaged by Lothar.
This place will be cleaned by end of march.
Lorenzo will also have by then his sand box finished (lower part of the picture on the side). Yesterday Rita has bought the material for constructing it.

Also on the lower part of the garden we did some work:
In order to have more light for our vegetable garden we decided also here to remove two big trees. The picture on the left shows the result. The wood gained was piled behind the house (see picture on the bottom left)
The vegetable garden will be now prepared.
