Fadel Cabels (tested in May and June 2002)

Situation:

On the mid and high frequency side (> 200 Hz) I had the Reference One interconnect (IC) from Fadel. These cabels were for me absolutely the best which I heared two years ago. The fullness of sound and the precision in all frequencies were way behond any other cables I tried. I percepted also so much more silence in the music: unbelievable.

On the low frequencies (< 200Hz) I was using the Crypton cables from Meitner. These cables are very good ones and it is a pitty that Meitner doesn't make them anymore. I didn't want to change these cables with Fadel's ones because I didn't think it was worth to spend so much money for so little benefits. In fact every one knows that low frequencies aren't so important as the mid or high ones. I had a discussion with Mr. Nestorovic about cables and he told me that he had the possibility to test the coherence and Reference One cables and for him the Coherence IC was far the better cable. So I got in contact with the Fadel's Swiss importer and he could give me first a pair of Coherence DuoFlex loudspeaker cables. He ran out of the few IC he had and he ordered some more but that would take time since the Coherence serie was quite new.

Coherence loudspeaker cables:

With my great surprise I heared a big difference when I used these cables for the low frequencies. This was the same type of difference that I heared when I switched to the Reference One on the mid and high frequencies. It is true that on the low end, the difference was less evident but it was very clear. The fullness of the low frequencies also blended with the fullness of the other frequencies and this gave also a new feeling which approched much more what I hear in live concerts. The difference was enough to convince me to buy these new cables. The price for me couldn't influence my choice. When you have such a high quality system and you hear the quality can improve so much then the price of such a cable is not relevant. The main problem is a phycological one: ..soo much money for cables! This is because we all underestimate how important cables are.

Coherence IC cables:

A few weeks after the purchase of the Coherence loudspeaker cables, I received a Coherence IC to test between the the Pre-phono stage (Klyne) and the preamplifier. I was very excited to see if Mr. Nestorovich was right saying that the Coherence are much better than the Reference One. After a few days of comparing the two, I also came to the same conclusion even if not so clearly as Mr. Nestorovic told me. The main differences is that the Coherence is more clearer, it gives more definitionand depth. After these tests I decided to sell my Reference One and to get the Coherence for the connection between the pre-phono stage and the preamplifier. I also decided to use the same technique for the low frequencies. To do this I had two options:

1. Buy a IC Coherence, use it for the mid and high frequencies and use my Reference One for the low.

2. Buy two IC Coherence, ise them for all frequencies and sell the Reference One.

The main problem I had were the costs of these changes because I needed a 6 meter length cable! After a few days I had the following idea: an Y-cable should be the ideal solution for my system. The cable which starts from my preamplifier's main output should have a box after 5 meters. This box will send the signal to two Coherence cables, one leading to my Nestorovic tube amplifier and the other to the Krell power amplifier. each of these cables are two meters long. Mr Fadel was asked if such a cable would have been possible to make and if he thinks it would be a good idea. Mr. Fadel replied positively so I ordered this kind of cable. When I received it, I didn't think of comparing it with the previous system because I didn't want to waist time and since any how I had to wait at least 72 hours, the run in time, before comparing the cables.

Coherence Power cables

A week ago I received two Coherence power cables. I first tested them on my Nestorovic tube power amplifiers, then on the pre-phono stage and on the preamplifier. At the beginning I thought that these power cables made the music not so exciting, but I found out that it didn't sound so loud (or was it the dynamic?) as my previous line cords. After turning the volume one step up, I then noticed that with the Coherence power cords the music was clearer and had more dynamic. I must admit that I was very disappointed with my self because I thought the music was boring only because it was less loud. Further differences will be reported in the next weeks. Since I am a person with no compromise concerning the music system, I will buy four such cables but I don't know when. I hope the prices of the shares will help me to buy these cables soon. Anyway I first want to sell my 6 meters long Reference One. At the moment my system with the two coherence power cables sounds unbelievable realistic. Everybody who heared it are completely shocked... me also.
