In lots of gardens the pond is one of the main attractions. The idea that we had was to make an interesting garden by suddividing it in lots of small parts. Each of these having their own actractivity and being different in characteristic. Near a huge heavy granite construction, we thought of putting something which has a complete different type of "material": water. We thought the pond was the ideal contrapoint to the grill place and both together would build a barear to the upper part of the garden. After passing this barear, the visitor would come into a different vegetation and landscape. The pond had to be more or less the same dimensions of the grill place in order to catch the same attention. We had place for a big pond so we started digging.
The major difficulty arised was a rock just underneath the place we wanted the pond. Luckely this kind of stone is quite fragile and after two days of work for two persons it was broken in pieces. The small stones we used for stabilizing the isolation material (rubber), and for a stone garden which is placed on top of the grass lawn behind the grill place.

In this picture you can also notice the place where the stream would be placed. Rita had also planed to build a small bridge over the stream.
